The variety of sharks is unreal! They come in all shapes, sizes, colours and patterns. I am only just scraping the surface of illustrating these 13 species out of the over 500 shark species in our oceans!

Sharks are often extremely misunderstood and misrepresented. With the media feeding stories that promote fear and panic in the community. It is doing a lot of damage for the conservation of sharks. People do not care about their lives and don’t know their importance or understand the key roles they play in maintaining a healthy ocean.

This is why I choose to paint them. I hope to shine a light on them in a positive way. Art can be an effective tool in changing the narrative. Showing a side to these animals that perhaps the viewer had not seen before.
If just one person looks at my paintings and thinks ‘wow what a beauty’ when they have never seen the beauty in sharks before, then I feel like I have accomplished what I set out to!
