A painting to get me back in the flow of things, to loosen up a little and just have fun with it.

I painted the seahorse from a beautiful reference photo by @marynadb then added my own little piece of seaweed sourced from the beach and then allowed myself to just create it and let the leaves flow any which way they came out on the paper.

A tell tale sign that I am in a bit of a painting

A tell tale sign that I am in a bit of a painting funk.. artist block as some call it.

Not 1 but 2 unfinished works! 🤯🤯🤯 I know a lot of artists work in this way, where they will have multiple paintings on the go at once.. not me. Never in the history of my arting life have I started and then left a painting without finishing... and now. I have currently left 2 behind!
.
Trying to understand the cause of my funk. It's not a lack of inspiration by any means. My head is fullllll of ideas that I need to get out. I just feel like I can't. I don't know if it's stress and not feeling like I can give myself the time to start all of these ideas that are all pretty intense, detailed, and extravagant.
.
Perhaps I suppressed these paintings for too long now it feels like there are too many and overwhelm has snuck in. I know one in particular called 'pushed to the brink' has been in my head now since I lived in Ayr in Queensland. So about 7 years its been whirling around in my mind.
.
I think my best bet is to realllllyy carve out some time for just painting. And start to get some of these paintings out of my head! 'Pushed to the brink', 'octopus reef', 'now you see me...' and 'chaos beneath' are the top of the list.
.
Others like 'interconnected', 'tidal pull' and 'breathing roots' can wait a little longer.
