Frilled Pygmy Octopus ‘ Octopus superciliosus’

An extremely rare and elusive species, most specimens have been collected by shallow water trawls and encounters of these octopus in the wild are extremely rare, with only two confirmed wild sightings. Only one of which was captured on video by Emily May (instagram @emilymaydive) on the Mornington Peninsula, Australia.

Once I laid eyes on her footage I was captivated by this tiny and unique creature, with arms that curl into little frills! I just had to paint it!
